About The Artist: patrick woodruff On september 22, 1988, Pat Woodruff was born in the sleepy town of New Haven, CT. He and his parents moved to Metuchen, NJ a short two years later. Woodruff had a run-of-the-mill suburban experience in school, generally getting picked on for his nerdy loves of Sonic the hedgehog and the Incredible Crash Dummies. When not playing with his small-but-loyal friend base, Woodruff would watch cartoons and read comics, which is where his interest in art started. He eventually began drawing regulatly on his own. Woodruff's uncle, a faculty member of the School of Visual Arts, encouraged him to continue his artistic endeavors and broaden his horizons, giving him artistic advice along the way. In the summer leading p ot his junior year in high school, Woodruff took a pre-college course at the School of Visual Arts. His work grew leaps and bounds in those short three weeks and cemented his decision to go into the cartooning field. Woodruff graduated from Metuchen High School as Senior Class Dictator (he had run against the incumbent president under that position title and won), President and co-founder of the Art Club, and a spot in the School of Visual Arts Cartooning program. Woodruff's college experience has promoted personal growth in his personal, social, and artistic life. Of particual note, he met his beautiful and talented girlfriend, Allison Strejlau, another cartooning major at the school, one year his junior. His thesis project, ¡Las Advenuras de Quixote!, is an adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes' Don Quixote and is currently the pinnacle of his career. Woodruff is currently a senior in Cartooning at the School of Viaual Arts. He lives in Manhattan as a Resident Assistant in one of the school's residence halls, and is currently President of Cartoon Allies, the school's Cartooning club. |
